New grad RN jobs are in abundance and new graduates will be able to pick and choose what setting they wish to work in first. New grads may wish to work in doctor’s offices, hospitals or government facilities. RN’s are in demand so their job hunting days will be pleasant and rewarding for them as they can choose which opening fits their demands best. Companies and hospitals benefit from hiring new graduates because they come in fresh with new ideas and they are easier to train to the way things are done in that particular institution.

Demand For New Grad RN Jobs

Every year the demand for new RN’s increases and the next few years will be no different. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, new RN’s have an excellent opportunity to be able to pick the position that meets their salary requirements, location and settings they wish for employment. The bureau reported that over new grad RN jobs500,000 new RN job openings will open up in the next few years, due to RN’s retiring and others leaving the profession. Positions for RN’s will increase by 22 percent, which is considerably faster than any other occupation.

New grad RN jobs are in a multitude of facilities. Hospitals employ the largest amount of job openings for new RN’s, providing close to 60 percent of all jobs. Many new grads seek positions in clinics, private practices, doctor’s offices, nursing homes, government offices, and even as traveling specialists. The new graduate is free to explore a number of options and choose the one that best fits into their lifestyle. A nurses training provides clinical studies which prepares the student to practice in many settings. A student may very well know what kind of setting they are best suited for because of the clinical studies they have done in training.

Registered nurses in the pediatric field provide care to children from infancy to the teens. RN’s are responsible for helping families cope with mental and physical disabilities, treatments, and teaching them disease prevention. In some office settings the RN would also give shots and immunizations. The RN assists the doctor and records all procedures and makes sure medical supplies are up to date and stored properly. It’s predicted that pediatric nursing jobs will increase as technology grows, and preventative care is taught to families and patients.

The largest numbers of nurses work in the hospitals. They usually specialize in intensive care, emergency room, pediatrics, surgery, or treat cancer patients. Patients range from those with fractures and have no one home to care for them, to patients with Alzheimer’s disease. RN’s will also start intravenous fluids and assess residents for the doctors. Specialty departments may include strokes and head injury patients, as well as long term rehabilitation residents.

Registered Nurses earn a sizeable larger salary then licensed practical nurses but the registered nurse also has more responsibilities. Salaries for registered nurses averaged about $62,500 a year as of 2008 figures. Registered nurses with more experience and educational background could earn as much as $92,000 a year. About 22 percent of RN’s work in a setting where they must join the union in order to work at that particular facility. This could affect benefits salary and other aspects of their employment.

New grad RN jobs are also available in the areas of public health, dermatology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, diabetes, and other specialties. Doctor offices may specialize in one or more fields and hospitals have many clinics, which a new grad can specialize in a certain field. Once the new grad knows what setting they want to work in, they can start the hunt for their rewarding field of employment.
